Ooh 'ello! I'm just in the middle of picking a new humongous load of pickled eggs; my speciality. I think i've perfected my recipe and am now making a record batch for friends & family which excites me no end! I'm just in the process of getting back into "usual" life. You know that feeling when you've just returned from holiday and you feel rather disorientated? Kinda like when you've just been watching an amazing film and the end credits roll and you don't want it to end??!!
I've returned back home after an amazing holiday (first time abroad in 15 years!!!) to Finland. Before i went, several people asked me "why Finland?". I replied: "you're right. I should probably go to Mojorca or Ibiza!"
What a fantastic country! Yes it was a little more pricey than here but not half as much as folks would have you believe. So beautiful, so many trees, so many lakes and Islands, so well run. We could learn a lot from the Fins. One of my greatest experiences and one that will remain in my mind for the rest of this lifetime is when we went swimming in a lake, off a small island at midnight with the sun only just beginning to set a brilliant red... nude, as is the-done-thing in that part of the world. Nothing like feeling the wind beneath your wings, so to speak!!
Hugely inspiring. Came home to watch Fernhill perform as part of Kristine Cooper's final MA performance at Dartington College and it also happened to be the final student performance there before the course(s) move down to Falmouth. An amazing concert tinged with subtle sadness at the loss of such an incredible institution that could not possibly be recreated anywhere else. My only regret is that i personally didn't chose to study there. Although i had many friends who did and therefore was fortunate enough to visit it often. And i would never go back on my dicision to study at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as that was such a life-changing experience for this little Devon boy!
So the summer is well upon us and Sidmouth and Dartmoor festivals are coming around yet again! Isn't it scary how quick that happens?!! Same old story: Christmas, Birthdays etc but somehow more prominent with the festivals. I've got a great fun Sidmouth coming up; gigs with Mawkin, Shelia Stewart, Viv & Vic Legg, DJ-ing at the Silent Disco, the Cream of Devon concert plus surprise appearances from the Queen of the tarot: Marijota Barrero so watch out for her!
God i love Summer! (and Autumn and Winter and Spring...
