Hello everyone, i hope you’ve been enjoying the traditional summer weather wherever you are! I’m busy hopping about festivals with Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll as the Jim Causley Trio, do take a peek at the gigs page and catch us at a festival near you!
Otherwise I am busy with the Villages in Action team working on the shows for the three remaining villages in the Unearthed tour: Rattery, Starcross and Cheriton Fitzpayne, all taking place in September so that means many new songs to be written!
My new album of Charles Causley’s poems for Children ‘I Am The Song’ is receiving all glowing reviews thus far and we shall be performing some of that material at special Charles Causley Centenary concerts this summer including the Edinburgh International Book Festival on 20th August, being introduced by Roger McGough no less, check me out!! Also the wonderful film all about Charles’ life by the super-talented Jane Darke is going to be shown on BBC4 this August so keep your eyes peeled for that, possibly around the 24th which would have been Charles’ 100th birthday. It features interviews with the aforementioned McGough, Sir Andrew Motion, Brian Patten and Simon Armitage to name a few and some delightful musical settings of Charles’ poems by some folk singer chap whose name escapes me…
I also have a brand new project on the boil which i am positively bursting to tell you all about but i’ve been sworn to secrecy so you’ll just have to wait but take my word; it’s gonna be fab!! See you all very soon, come and say hello and bring chocolates please
Love Jim xx
